The Setouchi Triennale is a contemporary art festival held once every three years in the eastern part of the Seto Inland Sea of Japan. It consists of three sessions – Spring, Summer and Fall- so that visitors can enjoy the beauty of each season.
The artists, as well as many people from diverse locations, genres and generations create this festival in collaboration with local residents. On top of being one of the biggest art festivals in Japan, visitors will be offered spaces and opportunities to engage with the history, culture, resources and people of the island.
General director of the Setouchi Triennale International Art Festival – Mr. Fram Kitagawa is invited to deliver a keynote speech in this seminar. He will share a variety of different ways to support the Triennale, from the creation of artworks and projects by artists, to holding events and other activities, to local revitalization initiatives through art development with locals and volunteer support staff, and more.
