Wood-firing Ceramics Workshop 2017

Embrace the raw beauty of natural ash glaze from incinerated wood logs. The third edition of wood-firing ceramics workshop is now open for HKBU undergraduate students.

AVA alumni who are experienced in wood-firing ceramics have been invited to lead the workshop as mentors. With a 1:2 mentor-to-student ratio, students can learn from mentors’ techniques in ceramic forming, as well as to inherit the skill in firing with the Kaitak’s kiln.

Mid-April 2017 — Meeting of mentors and students
Late-April 2017 — Preparation of ceramics pieces and wood
12 May 2017 — Bisque fire
19 May 2017 — Kiln packing & Preheat (Session 1)
20-21 May 2017 — Firing (Session 1)
27 May 2017 — Kiln unpacking (Session 1)
2 June 2017 — Kiln packing & Preheat (Session 2)
3-4 June 2017 — Firing (Session 2)
10 June 2017 — Kiln unpacking (Session 2)
11 June 2017 — Evaluation & maintenance of kiln (Session 1 & 2)

Eligibility
HKBU undergraduate students with priority given to students who had attended ceramics course.

Quota
20 students.
