In 2013 she was commissioned as a photographer & cinematographer by the Piraeus Port Authority S.A. and the Athens Biennale ‘AGORA’). A year later (2014) she worked for the ‘ArtAthina’ International Contemporary Art Fair of Athens and started showing great interest in the contemporary art world.
In 2014 she moved to London to pursue a MFA in Fine Art Media at the Slade School of Fine Art, where she earned her degree with distinction (2016). Her art practice ranges across different media, including video, photography, performance and installation.
About Wang Yuyu
Yuyu’s practice explores the understanding of the world through physical senses. She attempts to transfer her body’s self-perception onto inanimate objects and optical space.
She sees her body as the medium to achieve my communication with the external reality. She is interested in how the sensual and physical level of experiences can act as both a bridge and a boundary between everyday life and ourselves. Her work emphasizes the process of representing the somatic experiences. Sometimes, the processes of using materials and making objects become the very outcome of my work.
