Huang Xiaopeng was appointed as the University Fellow of Academy of Visual Arts, HKBU for the first semester of 2017-18 academic year. During his fellowship, he taught an undergraduate course, engaged in various research forum for faculty members and postgraduate students, and conducted a public lecture titled “TENANT IN PARADISE” on 29th January 2018.
About Huang Xiaopeng
Huang Xiaopeng, born 1960, China. He studied for a MA at the Slade in London (1990-92). He is University Fellow in HKBU, and Professor in South China Normal University, China. His video and public installation works explores inevitable dislocations as a consequence of translating, copying and transforming, to test the boundaries of meaning. His exhibitions include: 2015: “ A Hundred Years of Shame – Songs of Resistance and Scenarios for Chinese Nations”, Para Site art space, HK；2011: “Giorgio Andreotta Calo, Jalal Toufic, Huang Xiaopeng”, Whitechapel Gallery, London (U.K.); 2006: “The Thirteen: Chinese Video Now”, P.S.1 MOMA, New York (U.S.); He has also contributed critical text “Education as an Art Project” to Printed Projects 11, Dublin, 2009 (the 53rd Venice Biennial, 2009).
