Workshop Description:

Part One | Reference work sharing (25 minutes)
1.Educator demonstrates a sequential picture of Horse in Motion which was taken 100 years ago, and then share The 1821 Derby at Epsom by Théodore Géricault. Before photography technology was invented, painters imagined the posture of running horses and recorded through paintings. According to the comparison of both, it is understood that before photography exists, people might feel completely normal looking at the horses in the paintings, but looking at photographs, different movements of the horses could be shown. For instance, when horses were running, postures of front leg and hind leg were different. Therefore bare eyes are not enough to observe full movement of horses. Through this kind of analysis, students would be able to realize how much shock the invention of photography had brought to the world of paintings at that time.
